Mission, Values and Targets
Mission:
Believing that the local church is the best organization in place to serve the world in short-term mission work, our mission statement reflects such a conviction:
“To establish a relational network of facilitators and trainers across Canada who can provide quality resources, training, mobilization and nurturing expertise to the local church for the emerging wave of STM activity in our fellowship and beyond.”
Values:
Committed to Partnership
- With the growing community of those who have served on STM teams, and continue to develop the friendships established on the STM trips
- With our international friends in our joint service to the unreached and underprivileged, with an openness to learn from each other
Professional
- To facilitate internationally educated and cross-culturally sensitive/intelligent STM teams
- To train and prepare STM teams for effective ministry in cross-cultural settings
‘Glocally’-focused
- Global and local focus on needs of others, both here (local) and there (foreign)
- To serve with our eyes wide open to global and local cultural realities, instead of ideals
- Champions of ‘good religion’ (Isaiah 58:6-9, James 1:27)
Entrepreneurial
- Investigate opportunities where other Western agencies are not yet involved
- To provide a covering for mid-term (1-11 months) missionaries that includes recruiting, processing, preparing, mentoring, debriefing, and re-entering each individual
Targets:
- STM teams trained to a nationally accepted standard
- Accessible training events and clinics throughout Canada
- Facilitation of STM teams to unreached people groups
- Hosting STM exposure trips for 1st-time leaders & pastors
- Training of STM team leaders (train the trainers)
- Engage 30 people in “mid-term” (1-12 months) mission service
