VOLUNTEER – Mid-Term Missions
Looking for an adventure?
Is this for you?
Longer than a short-term team (2-8 weeks), and shorter than a long-term commitment, MTM focuses on opportunities between 2 months and up to 1 year.
If you’re 18 and over and want to use your skills and interests in international work (ie. “gap year” students, middle-aged professionals, early retirees, etc.), you might be a mid-termer.
Reasons are varied: you could be looking at becoming a long-term missionary, maybe you’re seeking the adventure of travel, you’re hoping to visit and support overseas friends, or perhaps you’re looking at a change in life and are looking for the next steps.
What will you do?
Typical opportunities include:
- Health and Social Justice Issues, HIV/AIDS
- Professional and technical resources, proposal writing and project management
- Teaching, training, school administration
- Building, construction, maintenance
- Orphan care, children’s ministry, VBS, youth camps
- Church outreach, evangelism, street ministry
Most MTMs tend to volunteer for approximately 2-12 months, are self-supported financially, and go to support the work of a present career missionary or host.
Prepare to arrive ready.
New MTMs are often highly motivated and dramatically untrained, their desire outstripping their experience.
You will be paired with an experienced facilitator who will work with you from start to finish.
