God’s plan for me:

Emily's Stories from Ghana

My name is Emily Grogan and I am planning a mission’s trip to Ghana, Africa. I will be going to Ghana teach at His Majesty Christian School and to work with local Christian school educators. His Majesty’s Christian school is the school that my current school’s Principal Dr. Mary Ashun and her husband Mr. Joe Ashun founded in 2012.

First off, I would like to ask you to pray for me. This is a big step of faith I am taking, to not only venture to Africa but, do it on my own with the support of my family, the PAOC and the Short Term Missions Network. It is a bit scary and I would really appreciate your prayers not only then but now, as I prepare. I have decided to take this trip in hopes of continuing to learning more about myself and to follow what I feel has been a calling from God. My hope is that through this experience and by taking risks for God that I will become better able to trust in Him.

When I moved to Bradford, Ontario in June 2012 I started attending a new church. One of the first sermons was about listening to God when He calls you. I was so perplexed by this message in fact, I even got upset. I remember speaking to my brother in-law who is a pastor and telling him that I have never heard God talk to me and I wondered why he had never tried. He told me that he was sure that God had tried but, that perhaps I was not ready to listen. I was so disappointed but was determined to try harder to hear Him. After several months the time had finally come. I not only did I hear a message from God but, I listened to it. I the summer of 2013 I went on a short trip to Ghana and had the opportunity to visit His Majesty’s Christian School, learn about the culture and meet many educators and members of the community. I was only able to spend 16 days in Ghana and left knowing in my heart that my time is Ghana was not done, I knew that God wanted me to go back. I have spent the last few months trying to figure out how to make this possible. I am planning on returning to Ghana in September 2014 for 10 months. I am a bit scared but, this is my opportunity to take a leap of faith.

I will be organizing fundraisers to earn the money needed for this trip. I am asking that you prayerfully consider financially sponsoring me on my adventure or by supporting me in another way that you see fit.
