Teach Syrian war affected youth.
The Middle East Scholars program is intended for high-potential students from the Middle East whose opportunity for study has been disrupted by war and violence. Students will be identified as LCC works in partnership with NGOs, UN groups and humanitarian organizations in Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq and Turkey. Students from minority and under-represented groups (including women) who have limited or no likelihood of returning home, or who have limited opportunity to study elsewhere in the region because of their identity, will be a priority.
Looking for 4 teachers from March to June 2016 for an initial pilot cohort of students. Future teaching opportunities for 10 teachers starting in September, for full year.
The Intensive English Program will serve students who are seeking full enrollment into an undergraduate degree at an English language university, including LCC International University, but need additional English language instruction. LCC Georgia offers courses to pre-university students from Georgia and the region.
•Teach academic English courses such as Academic Reading, Writing, Grammar, and Oral Skills at intermediate and advanced levels
•Cooperate with a team of teachers to design and implement curriculum
•B.A. degree plus Post Graduate Diploma in TESOL
•Two to five years of teaching experience
•Commitment to student-centred education
•Sensitivity to and experience with a culturally, ethnically, and linguistically diverse student body; strong communication and conflict resolution skills; flexibility; leadership skills
•LCC will cover travel costs to Georgia, provide for housing and utilities and a modest stipend of $200 per month.
•Candidates are welcome to raise whatever additional support they require through PAOC.
